I am looking at Pollock's style of painting because he applies his paint to the canvas by laying it flat on the floor rather than agaist a cavas, then drips the paint on from around the edges or above; creating a 'splatter' effect. Then, he would use trowels, sticks and knives to manipulate the materials and create depth to his paintings. I am going to experiment with these techniques so that I can add rich surface textures through colour and layers to my own pieces. I am also interested in the same abstract expressionist style of painting that Jackson Pollock was because of the way in which it lets you express feelings, experiences and emotions.
