Cy Twombly has been useful with helping to develop my project because of how his work is a reflection of his surroundings when he lived in Rome, and how it helped me become more comfortable with how I feel about portraying my own surroundings and emotions within my paintings.
Because of how my work has previously had themes of escapism, I have often portrayed happier themes as a way of taking refuge from the harshness of reality; for example, both myself and Twombly's work have recurring themes of Nature, which is a strong area of inspiration and calmness for me.
