Neil Canning's combined use of print work and paintings that create a detailed representation of the elements of nature interests me because of how the different mark makings add depth and emotion to the work. He uses dramatic mark making techniques to reference his surrounding areas that inspire him. I am planning to experiment with his style of work by creating layered screen prints and working with a range of mixed medias that will help me to create my own abstract expressionism pieces that will be based on my surroundings, my feelings towards them and an interest in different textures that can be created by ow you choose to apply paint or inks.
