Dani Schafer and Jamie Orr are two modern artists who both produce paintings that are influenced by colour and texture. Schafer is an abstract expressionist painter who's work is focused on capturing movement and shows 'sweeping guestures' and layers of colour that make up the composition of her work. Also an abstract expressionist painter, Jamie Orr is influenced by nature, rich colours and strong texture combinations. I am inspired by these two artists styles of work because my own work is also based on the combinations of colour and texture; and the different ways in which they can be applied together to create different effects.
through experimenting i have found that the closest i can get to recreating work in a similar style to Jamie Orr is by lathering up a surface with thick layers of acrylic paint and then pressing it against another surface to create a print/impression of it which then leaves a raised surface that shows where the the surfaces had touched and been connected by the paint.
