Shaun Space Crit - Libby and Paige

during another weekly Shaun Project Space crit we looked at Libby Griffiths and Paige Phillips collection of work. both had completely different styles of work so i was excited to see how they were planning on arranging their work together; and they managed to pull off a very interesting layout that used all of the space including floors, walls and even plinths to show off their work that made each piece compliment the others. Libby's work is a mixture of sculpture, painting, craft and was also site specific as you would not have seen it arranged the same way if placed in her studio. her wide range of materials and textures made you want to question it and even touch and feel every piece to get a better understanding of how she created them (knitting, crochet included) a lot of questions were asked as to where she sourced her materials and if she had altered or manipulated them at all and she was able to answer all of our questions with well thought on answers that made us feel that she had thought about her project a lot.

Then as for Paige's selection of work we were presented with a selection of paintings that had a feel of surrealism to them that made you stare at them for a prolonged amount of time as to ''figure them out''. Paige did incredibly well in capturing the attention of everyone with her work as everyone had questions about where her ideas and influences came from, for example if they were based on fantasy stories or films. she also presented some digital photo manipulations that you could tell a lot of effort was put in to creating them. the way in which she mixed her photo edits in with her paintings was, in my opinion, a good decision as you got to see all of the comparisons and contrasting areas too, as well getting a better idea of what her style of work is.
